March 7, 1994 - Toronto, Canada
-------------------------------
ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE: ATY) today announced the world's fastest true
color graphics accelerator board. The GRAPHICS PRO TURBO, based on the
recently introduced ATI mach64 64-bit graphics chip, is designed for
professional true color graphics applications such as
computer-aided-design(CAD), desktop publishing (DTP), as well as users who
want more colors under Windows and other GUI applications. It is ideal for
users that want more colors without sacrificing resolution or performance.
In addition, it is designed to be easy-to-use and comes complete with
software to enhance true color and Windows operation.

"The GRAPHICS PRO TURBO sets a new standard in terms of performance and ease
of use," said Henry Quan, vice-president of marketing for ATI. "This is the
product that will drive true color graphics cards into the mainstream."

ATI's GRAPHICS PRO TURBO is available in two memory configurations. Both the
2MB and 4MB VRAM versions support up to 1280x1024 non-interlaced resolution.

The 2MB version offers 24-bit true color at 800x600 and the 4MB provides true
color at resolutions up to 1280x1024. The 2MB version can be upgraded to 4MB
with ATI's 2MB daughtercard. Both versions offer refresh rates as high as
100Hz for flicker-free graphics and full acceleration when running in 24-bit,
true color modes. Versions are available for PCI, VESA and ISA bus types.

Features & Benefits
-------------------
Fast, accelerated 24-bit true color support makes the GRAPHICS PRO TURBO
ideal for working with photo-realistic images and high performance Windows
applications. Although many graphics cards run well at low resolutions,
they (especially DRAM products) slow down as refresh rates, resolutions
and color depths increase. The GRAPHICS PRO TURBO is designed for maximum
performance at resolutions from 640x480 to 1280x1024 and color depths from
256 colors to 16.7 million colors. Not only is the GRAPHICS PRO TURBO fast,
it also comes with comprehensive software drivers, programs and utilities
designed to enhance major applications.

WinSwitch, ATI's utility for "on-the-fly" Windows mode selection, is a
useful feature for owners of the 2MB GRAPHICS PRO TURBO. Typically, users
of 2MB graphics adapters are forced to compromise between high resolution
with fewer colors or lower resolutions and more colors; and have to restart
Windows if different color/resolution modes are needed. WinSwitch allows
users to quickly and conveniently switch from high resolution to true color
without restarting Windows.

For the true color user, the on-screen color calibration software for gamma
correction and color matching allows users to match colors on their monitor
to the images from their output device.

Extensive software and Windows utilities are included with the GRAPHICS PRO
TURBO making it easier to use than other cards. A new ATI DeskTop control
panel provides easy access to frequently used graphics card controls.
The FlexDesk Control Panel provides quick access to ATI's new WinSwitch
utility. The new Windows control panel allows easy control of ATI's DeskScan
pan and zoom feature, and Display Power Management Signaling (DPMS) for
Energy Star power saving operation, which also extends the life of monitors.

ATI includes drivers for Windows, Windows NT, OS/2 PM 2.1 drivers with
seamless Windows, and motion video acceleration drivers. There are
specialized software drivers for current popular DOS-based applications,
as well as, enhanced CAD drivers for AutoCAD, Microstation and CADKey.
For AutoCAD users, SoftEngine F/X, a full featured Display List Driver worth
$395US (suggested retail price) is included to enhance and simplify AutoCAD
use.

In addition, ATI supports packed pixel mode on the GRAPHICS PRO TURBO meaning
that it can run 24-bit, true color at 1280x1024 resolution in 4MB of memory,
unlike other cards that can only reach 1152x864 in true color mode with 4MB.

Designed for Ease-of-Use
------------------------
ATI has designed the GRAPHICS PRO TURBO for ease-of-use and convenience.
Extensive software and Windows utilities are included making it easier to
use than other cards. For example, preview functions in WinSwitch and the
ATI DeskTop control panel enable users to view a thumbnail image of the new
Windows setup before making the changes. The menu-driven configuration
program with context sensitive help, makes it easier for users to optimize
the monitor and graphics card for perfectly centered images. Automatic
diagnostics upon system initialization test each of the major components
on the GRAPHICS PRO TURBO.

True color Requires 64-bit Graphics Accelerator
-----------------------------------------------
Because applications in true color process three times as much data as in
256 colors, a 64-bit graphics subsystem is required to provide the necessary
performance and display requirements. The GRAPHICS PRO TURBO uses ATI's
mach64 and SpectraDAC components to implement a true 64-bit graphics
architecture with a 64-bit graphics engine, 64-bit VRAM memory, and a 64-bit
display DAC. The GRAPHICS PRO TURBO running in 24-bit, true color mode
outperforms previous generation products running 256 colors.

True 64-Bit Performance
-----------------------
ATI's GRAPHICS PRO TURBO provides superior Windows and DOS performance at any
resolution or color depth. Compared to other VRAM graphics products, the
GRAPHICS PRO TURBO is more than twice as fast as the nearest 64-bit graphics
accelerator and nearly six times the performance of the fastest 32-bit
products. DOS performance, often criticized on VRAM accelerators, is also
fast (eight times faster than others). Performance data is shown below:

ATI provides motion video acceleration at no extra cost. Enhanced hardware
functions enable the mach64 chip to assist the CPU in delivering motion video
images to the screen. With other graphics cards, additional hardware is
required to achieve the same frame rates as ATI's GRAPHICS PRO TURBO.
